Doherty Waits On Court

He appeared at London’s Thames Magistrates’ Court Dec. 2, but the bench adjourned for a committal hearing at the same court Jan. 14.

Then the magistrates will either hear the case or commit it to trial at a higher court, depending on the seriousness of the offense.

The Libertines and Babyshambles frontman and two close friends were originally charged with possessing drugs at an east London police station Sept. 28.

The charges followed an investigation into the death of heiress and celebrity filmmaker Robin Whitehead, who at the time of her death had been working on a documentary about Doherty’s decadent lifestyle and his relationship with supermodel Kate Moss.

The body of the 27-year-old granddaughter of the late environmentalist Teddy Goldsmith was found in January at a Hackney flat rented by Wolfe. She died of a suspected drug overdose Jan. 24.

“All the family are still devastated about the death of Robin. A beautiful woman has died and the family are still very much in mourning,” Sian Whitehead – Robin’s half-sister – told reporters outside the court.
