Earle’s Latest Road Trip
Earle allegedly experienced something of a meltdown Sept. 16 after performing at Indianapolis’ Radio Radio, where the artist reportedly caused more than $200 property damage in his dressing room. When told the amount would come out of his performance fee, the venue owner’s daughter claimed Earle punched her, according to the Indianapolis Star.
Earle was arrested and charged with battery, public intoxication and resisting law enforcement officials, according to the official website for the city of Indianapolis and Marion County. Within a week the artist postponed the rest of his tour dates and announced he was checking into a rehab facility.
Earle also disputed reports of what happened at Radio Radio.
“Unfortunately, reports surfacing online about the incident in Indianapolis are not accurate,” Earle said in a statement. “I have been advised by counsel that I should not comment on a pending criminal matter, but suffice to say that I am looking forward to having my day in court. I would also like to say that I oppose violence against women in any form.”
After emerging from rehab, Earle announced he was returning to the road to make up those missed dates as well as play a few new ones beginning Nov. 26-27 in Nashville. A January United Kingdom / Ireland tour was added earlier this month and now Earle has extended his road trip even further into 2011 with the announcement of more U.S. dates beginning the first week of February.
The new leg begins in Portsmouth, N.H., at The Music Hall Feb. 4. Other newly added gigs include South Burlington, Vt., at Higher Ground Feb. 5; Buffalo, N.Y., at Mohawk Place Feb. 7; Kent, Ohio, at Kent Stage Feb. 8 and Detroit’s Magic Stick Feb. 9. Other stops include Chicago (Feb. 10), Minneapolis (Feb. 14), Denver (Feb. 16), Seattle (Feb. 19), San Francisco (Feb. 22), Los Angeles (Feb. 25) and San Diego (Feb. 27).
