Eddie Montgomery Diagnosed With Cancer
The 47-year-old singer will undergo surgery in December to remove a cancerous tumor.
“I will be back in January ready to rock for all the fans,” he said in a written statement, which was posted on the band’s website today.
The news was first reported Thursday on Country Music Television’s website, along with a statement that said, “Please keep my family and [me] in your prayers.”
None of Montgomery Gentry’s upcoming tour dates have been canceled as of this point.
The duo plays Caesars Windsor “The Colosseum” in Ontario tonight.
On Monday the band takes part in Charlie Daniels’ annual Christmas 4 Kids concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn. This year’s event also features Sawyer Brown and Jake Owen.
To close out the year the band is set to perform Dec. 4 at Bank Of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
Montgomery Gentry already had a few gigs lined up for 2011 including the Winstock Country Music Festival in Winsted, Minn. (June 11), Mitchell Stadium in Bluefield, W.Va. (July 16), and Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va. (July 30).
