Lily Allen Hospitalized Over The Weekend

Lily Allen was admitted to the hospital on Friday to treat a case of septicemia, a potentially fatal blood poisoning infection.

Days earlier the 25-year-old singer announced she had suffered a miscarriage six months into her pregnancy. She has previously had a miscarriage in 2008.

The Toronto Sun noted that septicemia “can occur when [fetal] material left behind in the womb after a miscarriage becomes infected.”

A representative for Allen released the following statement over the weekend:

“Lily Allen is back in hospital, where she is being treated for septicaemia. She is responding well to treatment and her condition continues to improve,” Murray Chalmers said.

“Lily thanks everyone for their messages of support and again asks that she and partner Sam Cooper be left alone whilst she recovers.”
