Get Ready To Sing ‘The Sweater Song’

After teasing fans last month that plans for the tour were in the works and then confirming last week that the band was launching a multi-city U.S. “Blinkerton Tour” in November and December, Weezer has finally revealed the first dates of the trek.

The Memories Tour will feature two nights of shows in each city. The first night Weezer will perform the band’s self-titled 1994 album (dubbed the “Blue Album” after the cover art’s plain, blue background) followed by a greatest hits set. Fans will be treated to 1996’s Pinkerton in its entirety followed by a selection of the band’s greatest hits the next night.

Nov. 26-27 Weezer rocks the Gibson Amphitheatre At Universal CityWalk in Universal City, Calif. The guys then head north, playing San Francisco Nov. 29-30 with two nights of shows at Nob Hill Masonic Center.

I Love All Access VIP Packages go on sale Friday at 1 p.m. The American Express early on-sale begins Saturday. The public on-sale for the Universal City gigs go on sale Oct.1. The San Francisco tickets will be available to the public beginning Oct. 3.

More dates will be announced soon.

Weezer released its eighth studio album, Hurley, earlier this month. In November the band is set to re-release a deluxe version of Pinkerton along with Death to False Metal, a compilation of previously unreleased Weezer tunes.

Cuomo told the avclub.com the band has already started working on its next album.

“I was talking to the producer and he was saying, ‘These songs sound totally different from Hurley. Hurley was kind of dark, and the new songs sound like you’re 16, riding your bicycle to get a Slurpee,’” Cuomo said. “As a writer, I had no idea—I wasn’t shooting for anything different. That’s just what happened to come up.”
