Auditions for the 10th season of “American Idol” are being accepted now through MySpace until Oct. 6.

“All you need is a web cam and an Internet connection,” host Ryan Seacrest told fans in a MySpace video. “And if you have what it takes you could be on your way to singing in front of the judges. Take one minute to change your life by submitting your audition.”

Wannabe singers have no more than 40 seconds to state their name, the title of the song they’ve chosen and sing the tune.

Contestants, who must be between the ages of 15-28, have to choose a song from an approved list. Song options include Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life,” Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Achy Breaky Heart,” Dashboard Confessional’s “Screaming Infidelities,” Fleetwood Mac’s “Don’t Stop,” Madonna’s “Borderline” and Poison’s “Nothing’ But A Good Time.”

Singers selected to go to the next round will be contacted by an “American Idol” producer via phone or email between now and the start of the Los Angeles callbacks scheduled for Nov. 2, 3 and 4.

The traditional in-person auditions kicked off July 15 in Nashville, Tenn, followed by sessions in Milwaukee; New Orleans; East Rutherford, N.J.;
Austin, Texas; and San Francisco.

The last tryout is set for Sept. 22 at The Forum in Los Angeles.

Wednesday also marks the day that the season 10 judges will be revealed.

Fox says the season 10 judges’ panel is confirmed and will be officially announced next week in Inglewood, Calif.

Simon Cowell announced at the end of last season that it would be his last with the reality series. Ellen DeGeneres then broke the news that she wouldn’t be returning to the show after just a year at the judges’ table. In early September Kara DioGuardi revealed she was also leaving the show.

Original judge Randy Jackson is the only judge left standing but even his contract renewal hasn’t been confirmed.

Rumor has it that Jennifer Lopez has locked in a $12 million paycheck for a one-year deal. Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is also expected to join the show as a judge.

The tenth season of “Idol” is set to premier in January on Fox.
