CMA Nominations Announced

The first round of nominations for the CMA Awards was announced today revealing Miranda Lambert as the one to beat with five nods.

Lambert, who first burst onto the scene in 2003 as a finalist on “Nashville Star,” was nominated twice in the category of single of the year for “The House That Built Me” and “White Liar.” The tunes are also both nominated for music video of the year.

The singer has also been recognized for songwriting for “White Liar” in the category of song of the year.

Lady Antebellum earned four nominations in the following categories: vocal group of the year, single of the year (for “Need You Now”), song of the year (for co-writing “Need You Now”) and music video of the year (for “Need You Now”).

Zac Brown Band racked up two nods including new artist of the year and vocal group of the year. Brown earned another nomination in the song of the year category for co-writing “Toes.”

New artist of the year nominees include Luke Bryan, Easton Corbin, Jerrod Niemann and Chris Young.

Lady Antebellum and Zac Brown Band will be competing with Little Big Town, Rascal Flatts and The Band Perry for the honor of 2010’s vocal group of the year.

Vocal duo of the year nominees include Brooks & Dunn, Joey + Rory, Montgomery Gentry, Steel Magnolia and Sugarland.

“A Little More Country Than That” by Easton Corbin and “Hillbilly Bone” by Blake Shelton featuring Trace Adkins are also up for “Single of the year.”

“Hillbilly Bone” was nominated for “Music Video of the year” along with Brad Paisley’s “Water.”

The songwriters behind “A Little More Country Than That” and “The House That Built Me” were also recognized for “Song of the year.”

On Wednesday Lambert and Dierks Bentley will announced the nominees in five more categories on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

The 2010 CMA Awards take place Nov. 10, airing live on ABC from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Carrie Underwood and Paisley will host the show for the third year in a row.
