Guns N’ Roses Tour Still On

You can’t believe everything you read online (well, besides Pollstar.com) and that’s especially true when it comes to Twitter accounts. Even celebrity accounts verified with a tiny blue checkmark. Just ask Axl Rose.

On Sunday it appeared that Axl Rose had tweeted that the Guns N’ Roses tour was canceled.

“All upcoming Guns N’ Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds,” the singer seemingly tweeted.

The tweet was posted just two days after Guns N’ Roses played “Rock ‘N Rev” in Sturgis, S.D., marking the hard rock band’s first public U.S. concert in four years.

Guns N’ Roses’ official Twitter account replied to the tweet, writing, “Well well well, you never can tell … We are looking into this tweet.”

Both tweets were posted to the band’s Facebook page, with a note advising fans to “keep up with us here on Facebook and Twitter for official word.”

Although the band’s Facebook and Twitter page have not been updated regarding the tour (as of the time of this post), Reading Festival posted a statement of its own on Sunday.

“G N’R STILL PLAYING,” the statement said. “Don’t believe the rumours … Festival Republic are informed by GN’R management that Guns N’ Roses have NOT cancelled their performances at Reading & Leeds and that Axl Rose’s twitter account was hacked into and all claims of dates being cancelled are unfounded.”

Guns N’ Roses is set to play Reading Festival Aug. 27 at Richfield Avenue in Reading, United Kingdom, followed by an Aug. 29 performance at Leeds Festival at Bramham Park in Leeds, U.K.

Dates are on the books through late October with European shows scheduled in Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, France, Austria, Romania, Serbia and Spain.

On Dec. 4 the band is booked to play Sydney Telestra 500 at Olympic Park Showgrounds in Sydney, Australia.
