MusicfestNW, which began life as North by Northwest, will expand its horizons this year, adding two outdoor shows (The Decemberists on Sept. 11 and The National on Sept. 12) in “Portland’s civic living room,” the city’s historic Pioneer Courthouse Square.

The Sept. 9-12 event will also feature 160 acts spread throughout 17 of the city’s hottest clubs, including Sleep, The Thermals, Menomena, Wiz Khalifa, The Walkmen, Ra Ra Riot, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Justin Townes Earle, The Tallest Man on Earth, Man Man, Bobby Bare Jr., Titus Andronicus, Frank Turner, Shonen Knife, Japandroids, Laura Veirs and many others.

MFNW organizers have also partnered with Nike for a series of free, all-ages, daytime performances at the Wonder Ballroom. Headliners and set times for those shows will be announced in the coming weeks.

Festival wristbands go on sale June 5. Bands are priced at $65 for access to one of the two outdoor shows and the rest of the festival or $90 for both outdoor shows and the rest of the festival.

Individual tickets for shows at Pioneer Square, McMenamins Crystal Ballroom and The Roseland Theatre also go on sale June 5.

Complete info on tickets, lineup and set times is available at MusicfestNW.com.

For those who can’t make it to the party, Seattle’s KEXP 90.3 FM will broadcast a series of in-studio performances by several acts featured at MFNW from Portland’s Doug Fir Lounge.
