Michaels Back In Hospital

Health troubles continue to plague the Poison frontman. Michaels underwent an emergency appendectomy in mid-April only to suffer a brain hemorrhage two weeks later. Now he’s back in the hospital after suffering a “transient ischemic attack” otherwise known as a “warning stroke.”

Michaels, who is diabetic, was readmitted to the hospital after suffering numbness on his left side, according to his website. While conducting tests, doctors discovered a hole in his heart, or “patent foramen ovale” (PFO).

“There is not doubt that the positive patent foramen oval is devastating news to Bret and his family,” Michaels’ attending neurosurgeon, Dr. Zabramski said. “The good news is that it is operable and treatable and we think we may have diagnosed the problem that caused the transient ischemic attack or warning stroke; however we feel it is highly unlikely this is connected to the brain hemorrhage he suffered just a few weeks earlier. Once again it is great that he quickly reacted to the severe numbness and got to the hospital immediately.”
