In addition to its roster of established hits like “Aqua Teen Hunger Force,” “The Venture Brothers,” “The Boondocks,” “Metalocalypse,” “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!” and Seth Green’s completely genius, spot-on pop-culture gallimaufry “Robot Chicken,” the network has a slew of new shows in development that are set to premiere this year.
Coming up this weekend is the debut of “Cheyenne Cinnamon and the Fantabulous Unicorn of Sugar Candy Town,” starring alt-country singer Neko Case as the voice of the title character.
The show, which makes its debut Sunday night, also features vocal contributions by MC Chris and T-Pain, as well as music by Butch Walker.
According to the show’s creators Cheyenne is “a Strawberry Shortcake pop princess that lives in a candy wonderland just outside of Detroit. She comes into Detroit and helps solve problems of racism and teen pregnancy with the power of love and teen pop songs.”
Sounds like classic Adult Swim.
Also on the drawing board (sorry) for 2010 are “Black Dynamite,” “Mary Shelley’s Frankenhole” (from “Morel Orel” creator Dino Stamatopoulos), “Tight Bros,” “Mongo Wrestling Alliance” (from “Metalocalypse” co-creator Tommy Blacha) and “Children’s Hospital” – a live-action spoof of TV hospital dramas premiering May 11.
