Johnny Depp’s Happy About Keith Richards Doc
The film, which is the first proper Keith Richards documentary or biopic, will be titled “Happy,” according to the Guardian.
The project will mark Depp’s first gig as a director in more than a 10 years. His last directorial project was 1997’s “The Brave.”
“Now that I’m wiser, and that enough time has passed, I can experience directing again,” Depp told the Serbian magazine Politika, according to a translation by the Playlist. “Next week I’ll start working on a Keith Richards documentary.”
The Guardian noted that Depp used Keith Richards’ grizzly rock ’n’ roll persona as part of the inspiration for his Pirates of the Caribbean character, Jack Sparrow. Richards’ part as Captain Teague in “At World’s End,” the third film in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, was the 66-year-old guitarist’s first acting role.
“I’m touched that Keith agreed to show up in front of my cameras,” Depp said.
