Depeche Mode Play The Angel
The show takes place Feb. 17 at London’s Royal Albert Hall, the first time the British synthpop band has played the historic venue in its 30-year career.
All proceeds from the performance will be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust, a U.K. organization that provides support, research and education for teenagers diagnosed with cancer. The Trust also funds and builds specialist units in hospitals to bring together teenagers fighting cancer so they can encourage one another in an environment with patients their own age rather than being treated in an adult ward.
Pre-sale tickets for the charity concert go on sale Dec. 16 at 9 a.m. (London time) through Dec. 17 at 5 p.m. Tickets go on sale to the general public Dec. 18 at 9 a.m.
Depeche Mode wraps up December with a few U.K. dates, playing a two-night stand at The O2 –London Dec. 15-16 followed by a Dec. 18 performance at Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, U.K.
The band then kicks of the New Year with a Jan. 9 show at the O2 World in Berlin followed by shows in Hungary, Czech Republic, France, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Croatia, Denmark and the U.K. Dates are on the books through a two-night stand at ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany. Feb. 26-27.
Depeche Mode has been nominated for two Grammy awards – Best Alternative Music Album for the band’s twelfth full-length album, this year’s Sounds of the Universe, and Best Short Form Music Video for the tune “Wrong,” which hails from the same album.
