Odds & Ends: Bon Jovi Adds 3rd Meadowlands Stadium Show, Elton Still Sick

Bon Jovi fans now have better chances of scoring tickets for the band’s inaugural concerts at the new Meadowlands Stadium in E. Rutherford, N.J. AEG has upped the show tally to three nights at the new venue even though tickets for the originally planned two shows have yet to go on sale.  Meanwhile, a bout with a bug forces Elton John to postpone another show.

May 29, 2010, is the new date added to Bon Jovi’s Meadowlands run. That date, along with previously announced May 26 and 27 shows, go on sale tomorrow at 10 a.m. Eastern time.

Last week Bon Jovi played a mini concert in the parking lot of the new stadium and announced a world tour beginning Feb. 19 in Seattle at the KeyArena at Seattle Center.

Feeling under the weather, last week Elton John was forced to cancel his planned Oct. 23 performance at the Sheffield Arena in the U.K. and postpone stops in Newcastle and London. As the week progressed, a Liverpool gig scheduled for Oct. 28 also ended up in the postponement zone.

Now tonight’s Dublin date at that city’s O2 arena has been postponed. According to the artist’s website, promoter Aiken Promotions is trying to reschedule the show “for a suitable and available date in December 2009.” The message also asks ticketholders to hold on to their ducats.

According to EltonJohh.com, John is “bitterly disappointed” not to play Dublin tonight and that he picked the city to close the Red Piano tour “because of the great warmth of the people and the great concerts he had in the city over many years. He is hoping to reschedule the dates in the very near future.”
