Doing The Time Warp With Shwayze
Sure it’s just another way of promoting an airing of the classic 1975 flick that defined midnight movie madness, but it’s a fun promotion and it airs on music cable channel Fuse tonight.
Here’s the deal: Shwayze is Aaron Smith and Cisco Adler, the latter the son of “Rocky Horror” co-producer and legendary record producer Lou Adler.
It turns out Smith has never seen “Rocky Horror.” So tonight Adler will guide his Schwayze cohort and the TV audience through the movie, pointing out the flick’s finer points, such as teaching Smith how to do the “Time Warp,” which he refers to as “The Creepy Hokey Pokey,” and demonstrating the correct way to do a pelvic thrust.
As any “Rocky Horror” fan could tell Smith, the flick starred a very young Susan Sarandon who played Janet to Barry Bostwick’s Brad while Tim Curry portrayed Dr. Frank-N-Furter and Meat Loaf made his first film appearance as ex-delivery boy Eddie.
It’s behind-the-scenes comments and gossip plus the movie that launched a million midnight screenings, and it airs tonight on Fuse at 10 p.m. and midnight. Not a bad way to spend a Friday night, eh?
Oh, and don’t forget to have some toast ready for, well, you know.
