Rain Settles Lawsuit
The Hawaiian date was supposed to be the launch of the “Rain’s Coming” U.S. tour, and attracted fans from as far away as Japan and South Korea, with many of them paying up to $300 for a ticket. Unfortunately for them, Rain canceled the show with only a few days notice.
Earlier this year a federal jury decided Rain, his former agency – JYP Entertainment – and two South Korean promotion companies breached a contract to perform and defrauded Click Entertainment, and ordered the singer and his former managers to pay $8 million to the promoter.
A South Korean newspaper, citing court documents, reported the lawsuit was settled last week, but no details were disclosed. JYP Entertainment declined to comment because of a confidentiality agreement in the settlement.
Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon and is often referred to as the “Justin Timberlake of Asia,” was named by Time magazine as one of the world’s most influential people in 2006.
