CMT Moves Awards Up One Day
Although CMT execs haven’t given any reason for the one-day tweak in plans, Entertainment Weekly speculates the schedule change might have been made to accommodate appearances by Keith Urban and Sugarland. Both have engagements scheduled for the original date.
EW also reports Def Leppard has been added to the awards show, saying it possibly indicates the band will perform with Taylor Swift in a re-creation of the “Crossroads” appearance by Swift and the group last year.
Other performers scheduled to appear include Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts and Brad Paisley.
CMT calls the show the only “fan-voted’ country video spectacular in awardom. Fans have until May 11 to vote in the first round of balloting. Since Sugarland leads the nominations with six nods, it’s easy to understand why the country music cable channel moved its gala up one day.
