Chris Brown’s Career Continues To Sink
Brown and T.I. were originally going to be the focus of promoting the crime/action thriller to the urban demographic before Brown was accused of allegedly assaulting girlfriend Rihanna, according to hip hop blog www.woooha.com.
Although the movie, which is set for release in Jan 2010, has already finished filming and Chris will still be in the flick, the unofficial word is he will be absent from advertising and replaced by T.I. and actors Paul Walker and Hayden Christensen.
Rolling Stone pointed out although T.I. is now the main marketing attraction, ironically he may still be in prison when the film is released. The rapper is expected to serve jail time for weapons charges beginning in March.
Brown’s film career also includes starring roles in “Caramel” and “Phenom,” films in the production/in-production stages, according to IMDB and reported by Rolling Stone.
“Caramel” writer/director Melvin James told Life & Style “Chris’s current situation hasn’t had any effect on things in terms of the film. We’re still planning on working with him.”
Brown reportedly began taking anger management classes Feb. 23, in Glendale, Calif. Spin reported that Brown’s new communications handler, Michael Sitrick, a celebrity career-crisis manager who has helped Mel Gibson work through his demons, suggested the classes.
“Chris doesn’t actually have to go by law,” a source told the New York Daily News. “But he believes it will make him look better to the public, and he wants to try to get in a few classes before [his March 5 court date].”
There are rumors the court date might be pushed back so police can gather more evidence but Rihanna is expected to testify, according to Rolling Stone.
After TMZ.com posted a photo Feb.19 of a beaten and bloodied female with the title “Rihanna – The Face of a Battered Woman,” the Los Angeles Police Department investigated if the photo was part of police evidence.
The LAPD has identified the computer from which the photo was leaked, but they have yet to point at finger at who did the dirty work and sold the image, according to Spin. TMZ reportedly purchased the photo for $62,500.
“[Internal Affairs] said they were looking into it vigorously. We are not talking about the protocols because it will relate to this investigation,” LAPD spokesman Lt. John Romero said.
The alleged altercation between Rihanna and Chris Brown supposedly took place the morning of the Grammy Awards. Police sources told the Los Angeles Times Rihanna is cooperating with investigators in building a domestic violence case against Brown, who remains free on $50,000 bail.
