The Arkansas Senate in Little Rock had an unusual break on its Feb. 11 agenda when Charley Pride stopped by for an impromptu set.

State Sen. Steve Faris, formerly a country music DJ for 13 years, knew Pride would be in town and invited the Country Music Hall of Famer for a visit.
The group joined in singing five of Pride’s hits including “Crystal Chandeliers” and “Anybody Going To San Antone.”
Pride had surgery at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1997 to remove a tumor from his right vocal chord, which Faris said saved Pride’s singing career. The performer continues to have regular checkups there.
