Galactic Powers Up
The band will kick off a new run of shows December 30 at Soul Kitchen in Mobile, Ala., and has dates on the books through the end of March.
A highlight on the schedule is the Jam Cruise, which departs from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., January 4 for a 5-day, 5-night music and travel adventure.
More than 20 bands will entertain 2000-plus passengers aboard the MSC Lirica. The luxury cruise liner will make stops on the island of Roatan, Honduras, and in Costa Maya, Mexico before returning to port January 9.
Acts scheduled to join the Jam Cruise crew include Warren Haynes, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Funky Meters (featuring Art Neville, George Porter, Russell Batiste & Ian Neville), Yonder Mountain String Band, Dark Star Orchestra, Soulive, Toots & the Maytals, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Everyone Orchestra, Perpetual Groove, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Lotus, New Monsoon, Toubab Krewe, The Motet, the DJ Harry, special guest Karl Denson, and many others still to be announced.
While the ship is at sea, the music starts around noon and goes all night. Artists usually play multiple shows during the cruise and are accessible for autograph signings, casual interaction, and other activities including music workshops, solo musician performances, more.

Other stops on Galactic’s itinerary include Jannus Landing in St. Petersburg, Fla. (January 12), Tipitina’s Uptown in New Orleans (February 2 and 4), The Depot in Salt Lake City (February 13), the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver (February 15), Park West in Chicago (February 22) and The Music Mill in Indianapolis (February 23).
Accompanying Galactic from February 13 – 23 is hip-hop artist Ohmega Watts.

In March the band will head to Australia for a few dates, including March 16 at Esplande in Freemantle and March 22-23 at Belongil Fields in Byron Bay.
