Plant & Krauss Announce Tour
European and U.K. dates start May 5 at the Birmingham NIA and include stops in major venues in Paris, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Brussells, and Oslo, and other cities. The initial dates on the world tour looks to conclude at Wembley Arena in London May 22.
Plant and Krauss are also rumored to be playing the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee this June, but no U.S. dates have been confirmed.
The unlikely duo released a T-Bone Burnett produced album, Raising Sand, in October.
Plant and Krauss cover a wide range of material on the record, including songs by Tom Waits, Gene Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Little Milton Campbell, Mel Tillis, Doc Watson and the Everly Brothers.
The musical mashup veers into familiar territory for Led Zep fans as well: the Robert Plant/Jimmy Page “Please Read the Letter” from the pair’s 1998 Walking Into Clarksdale is included in the track list.
Reportedly sitting in on the sessions were alt-country virtuosos including Marc Ribot, Norman Blake, Mike Seeger, Jay Bellerose and Dennis Crouch.
The tour will see the Led Zeppelin singer and country star play a date at London’s Wembley Arena on May 22, as well as three other UK dates in Birmingham, Manchester and Cardiff.
