First up is a performance October 17 at Webster Hall in New York City to benefit the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. The event will honor legendary American folk singer/songwriter Woody Guthrie and his wife, Marjorie.

In addition to Brad, the evening will be hosted by Tim Robbins and will include performances from Billy Bragg, Steve Earle and other special guests.

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.

Guthrie’s career blossomed in the 1930’s, but by the late 1940’s, his health had begun to deteriorate and affect his work. He was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease in 1952 and after his death in 1967, his wife founded the Committee to Combat Huntington’s Disease, which later became HDSA.

Gossard explained Brad has strong ties to the organization.

“Several members of my wife’s family have Huntington’s Disease. Supporting resources for families and necessary research are efforts that are very close to our hearts,” he said.

The band will follow up its New York performance with a hometown concert October 19 at Neumo’s in Seattle.

The reunited Brad features much of the band’s original lineup, including Smith, Gossard and drummer Regan Hagar, along with Satchel’s Mike Berg sitting in for original bassist, Jeremy Toback, and Malfunkshun’s Kevin Wood.

The band’s last release was 2005’s Brad vs. Satchel, a compilation of incomplete Brad and Satchel tunes. The group is reportedly working on a fourth album for release next year.
