The band, which features the father-son team of Henry and Blaine Harrison, will release its U.S. debut album, ZooTime, May 8. They’ll launch the tour shortly thereafter with two gigs at Toronto’s Drake Hotel May 28-29.

The quintet will stay on the road for just over two weeks, playing double gigs in many cities. In New York, they’ll play an acoustic set at Joe’s Pub June 1 before rocking the Bowery Ballroom the next day. They’ll do the same in San Francisco with gigs at Cafe Du Nord and The Independent, and they’ll wrap in Los Angeles at the Troubadour June 14.

The group comprises guitarist/vocalist Will Rees (age 20), bassist/vocalist Kai Fish (21), drummer/vocalist Kapil Trivedi (20), keyboardist/vocalist Blaine (20) and guitarist/vocalist Henry (“slightly older”). The elder Harrison is also described by the band as a “guiding light.”

According to an official bio, Blaine met Will at nursery school when both were four years old. They kept up a communication via postcards later, eventually spawning the band.

“We used to do drawings of all the different lineups,” Blaine said. “Henry was always in the band.”

In addition, Henry, a former architect, lived with Kai’s parents “in a commune in the Seventies,” according to a press release.

“We used to share hash cookies together,” Henry said.
