The homecoming leg of the Bigger Bang tour attracted interest from a scornful Daily Mail, which focused on “the apparent apathy surrounding tickets sales.”
It said there were hundreds available on eBay, presumably unaware that these tickets were already sold and are only on the site to resell for more.
However, the “Panic For Rolling Stones As Tour Tickets Go Unsold” headline was in line with the paper’s strategy of trying to alarm readers – even if the story and U.K. sales figures provided little evidence for panic.
The unkindest cut in the piece was The Mail claiming the band, “who have a combined age of 249,” had tickets being sold at less than half face value by Saga, a company offering value-for-money services for the elderly.
