The first show will take place at New York City’s CBGB June 13, the day Sonic Youth’s new album, Rather Ripped, hits stores.

The band will play theatres across the U.S. through early July before hooking up with Pearl Jam for seven previously announced opening gigs.

Former Pavement bassist Mark Ibold will be along for the ride as Sonic Youth’s touring bass player.

The group will make room for the in Tennessee June 18, and head downunder following the Pearl Jam stretch. Two headlining gigs are booked in Australia, as well as the Splendour In The Grass Festival in Byron Bay.

Sonic Youth wi’ll also appear at the July 29 in Nigata, Japan.

In August, the group will hit Lollapalooza in Chicago and the Kuyahoga radio festival in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Additional summer dates are on the way.
