Indie-pop youngsters Smoosh will open the U.S. and Canada concerts, which begin with two “warm-up” shows at The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, Calif.
The bands will head up the West Coast, across the Midwest and all the way to New York City, where they’ll play a free show at the World Financial Plaza June 13. The North American leg will wrap in Toronto four days later, although Eels will be back for Lollapalooza in Chicago August 5.
European dates stretch from June 24 to July 9, with appearances scheduled at major events including the U.K.’s Wireless Festival, Holland’s Ahoy Open Air Festival, and Scotland’s
More dates are to be announced in the U.S. and Australia.
Eels released a double album, Blinking Lights And Other Revelations, last April and followed with the Eels With Strings: Live At Town Hall CD and DVD.
“We’re very happy that everyone’s enjoying the Town Hall with strings album and film. It was a great night and tour for us, but that was SO 2005,” Eels leader Mark Oliver Everett said.
“We’re into something a little different now. Blinking Lights is a big album (33 tracks to be exact) and it deserves at least two world tours in its honor.”
