A late October trip to South America will constitute the first round of pre-release touring for the band, with Europe, Japan, Australia and North America “in discussion.” A full U.S. tour is planned for early 2006.

The South American dates encompass three Brazilian dates – in Rio De Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre, all as part of the TIM Festival – as well as shows in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Santiago, Chile.

The October 21-29 shows will be The Strokes’ first live appearances in more than a year.

First Impressions Of Earth was recorded at the band’s own rehearsal studio with producer David Kahne. Gordon Raphael, who produced the band’s first two albums, lent assistance on three tracks.
