The tour launches July 9 in Pelham, Ala., at the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre. Smith will carry the message through the South to the West Coast and loop back East before wrapping August 22 in Charlotte, N.C.

Prior to the tour, he’ll play the Riverbend Festival June 15 in Chattanooga, Tenn.

So far this year, Smith has released a live DVD and a box set that includes the Worship and Worship Again albums as well as the “Worship” DVD. In February, he won his third Grammy when Worship Again took the honors for best pop/contemporary gospel album.

His song “Carol Ann” was chosen in March by the Bush-Cheney team for inclusion in its initial round of television commercials.

“I’m honored that the president would select ‘Carol Ann’ as part of his first ad campaign for reelection,” Smith said. “When I wrote the song, I never thought it’d be part of one of the most followed campaigns in recent history.”

Hey, one W. deserves another.
