Police responded to a burglary call and found the erstwhile singer-actress standing outside the home, where she admitted breaking the windows while trying to enter, Los Angeles Police Lt. Art Miller told the Los Angeles Times.

She was booked on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance under the name Courtney Michelle Cobain. She posted $2,500 bail and was released at about 5:30 a.m.

Then Beverly Hills police and paramedics responded to a call for help 35 minutes later at a private residence, where Love was found and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Times said police described her as “under the influence of a controlled substance and overdosed.”

It was not clear if Love was still considered to be “under the influence” when she was released from the Wilshire Division police station prior to her hospitalization. She was reportedly no longer at Century City Hospital by midday after her admittance.

Love had a stay at the same hospital in April 1994, where she was taken after Beverly Hills Peninsula Hotel employees called police reporting that one of their guests may have overdosed. Shortly afterward, she entered a drug rehab facility but left on the news of husband Kurt Cobain’s suicide.

More recently, Love had been campaigning for artist rights, including filing a suit against Vivendi Universal Music Group and appearing with Don Henley before the California Legislature to argue for changes to the state’s personal services contract law, better known as the 7-year rule.
