The music fest is taking over the historic site of the original Woodstock Festival in Bethel, N.Y., for two days, August 23-24. Artists on the bill include Tracy Chapman and LeAnn Rimes, who are headlining, as well as Third Eye Blind, Soulive, George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic, Darius Rucker of Hootie & The Blowfish fame, Terrance Simien, and Recycled Percussion.

But, the question on everyone’s mind is how to get those free tickets. Well, Ben & Jerry’s has a plan: you get two friends to register to vote at the benjerry.com Web site, and they send you a free pass. Twenty thousand freebies, of the 60,000 total tickets available, are up for grabs on a first-earned, first-served basis.

Of course, those who are already registered voters can still gain entry to the festival. General admission tickets are $32, with kids under 13 getting in free.

That Ben & Jerry’s is giving away free tickets to people who register to vote is no surprising move for the company. The famous ice cream makers are known for their social and political activism.

“Ben & Jerry’s is the ultimate example of a company that truly believes [in] the meaning of democracy and social justice, and recognizes the power each individual has to make positive changes in our world,” Jehmu Greene of Rock The Vote said. Rock The Vote has partnered with Ben & Jerry’s on the ticket give-away.

Since the One World One Heart Festival was founded in 1991, more than 6,000 festival-goers have registered to vote and more than 250,000 individual postcards have been sent to Congress focusing on human rights, environmental needs, and other social issues.
