Xiu Xiu Pull Out Out
The theft happened after the band’s gig in Missoula, Mont., March 22. According to Pitchfork Media, “When they (the band) were done rocking the place, they apparently parked their van – filled with virtually every instrument they own – in a lot and took off to hit the sack.
“The next morning, they woke up, returned to the van, and all their stuff had disappeared.”
And, as if to add insult to injury, the heist occurred just as Xiu Xiu were setting out on a 35-date club tour of the States. Naturally, all dates have been put on hold until the band can either recover their stolen goods or get new gear.
In an interview last year, a member of the band said, “Life is hard and can be awful. I know it is obvious. Sometimes it is easier to accept than feel overwhelmed and beaten up when things do not turn out alright.
“Some things that happen can be really horrible, but also can be made into something that can be pretty.”
Let’s hope the band’s optimistic attitude sustains them through this rough patch.
