John Doe
Among the bands in his quiver are the John Doe Thing, the John Doe Trio, and, of course, X, for which he is most well known. However, Doe has taken the solo path as of late and released his first acoustic album, Dim Stars, Bright Sky, last year.
In addition to being a staple in the music scene, Doe has delved into the visual media, acting in several major films and TV productions. He recently played a role in last summer’s movie, “The Good Girl,” which starred Jennifer Aniston, and stars in Karl T. Hisch’s indie flick “Media Whore.”
In early fall last year, Doe went on tour with fellow singer/songwriters Grant-Lee Phillips and Kristin Hersh. The Exile Follies outing was a convergence of three unique performers whose paths have frequently kept both their audiences and themselves guessing.
Doe will continue to keep audiences on their toes as he embarks on a solo tour starting January 20 in Salt Lake City. The next shows – a two-night stand in Los Angeles – feature Doe reuniting with his old band X. Gigs on February 27 and March 4-5 find him performing with the John Doe Trio.
