Bon Jovi will also play during the halftime event. The band is expected to perform their new single, “Everyday,” from their forthcoming album, Bounce.
Although rumors abound that U2 will be on the roster of rock bands to play at the Times Square show, the band has quickly quashed all rumblings. A statement on the band’s official Web site reads: “Just a note to correct a number of reports in the press and online: U2 will not be performing at New York’s Time Square to mark the launch of the NFL season on September 5.

“I think the city is much better off for doing the event.”
The party will be free to the public and will be nationally televised on several networks including CBS, MTV, VH-1 and ESPN.
