The two bands head out starting with a gig April 18 at The Grove Of Anaheim in Calif., before hitting the House Of Blues in Hollywood for three shows. Two shows in San Diego, one in Las Vegas and one in Pomona, Calif., round out the West Coast run.

NOFX hit the studio last year to record a special tribute to Rancid, and Rancid returned the favor as each band covered six of the other’s songs for Volume III of the Split Series by BYO Records. The album is due out March 5.

Rancid’s last musical outing was as part of the 2001 Vans Warped Tour, while NOFX have kept busy on the Big Day Out Festival in Australia. They are currently touring the States with Aussie group Frenzal Rhomb.

It’s been many moons since the last time the two no-frills punk bands have shared the same stage, making this outing any mohawked skate rat’s dream.
