Sevendust were hotly tipped to support on Creed‘s winter outing but the band is instead going their own way, supporting their third album, Animosity.

Last year saw the Atlanta-based band on the road with Fuel, Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, Breaking Point, Drowning Pool, and Stereo Mud.

Following their ‘99 sophomore release, Home, Sevendust logged more than 300 shows within the space of two years. They had spots on the Vans Warped Tour and Tattoo The Planet, gigged at Woodstock ‘99, and supported Creed on their largely sold-out stint.

Their extreme touring schedule eventually caught up with the band and they finally took a break at the end of 2000. Some guys needed physical therapy and the bass player required knee surgery – not such a glamorous ending but the reality of spending so much time on the road.

During their down time, Sevendust entered the studio and emerged with Animosity. Born out of frustration and anger, Animosity reflects the band’s past struggles, but also highlights a change in musical direction. “We realized that we didn’t have to try to be the heaviest band in the world,” said drummer Morgan Rose.

Confirmed frontman Lajon Witherspoon: “I’m hungry again, the band is hungry again, the energy is there and we just can’t wait to go and kick everybody’s ass.”
