Local H Still No-Frills
Local H were a largely unheard of indie band until their sophomore album, As Good As Dead (1996), came along and spewed forth a huge hit. “Bound For The Floor,” (a.k.a. the “copacetic song”) propelled the band – Scott Lucas and Joe Daniels – out of the shadows and into the spotlight.
From there, Local H landed the support slot on a tour with Stone Temple Pilots and have been on the road since. But all has not come easy.
Shortly after the release of their third album Pack Up The Cats in 1998, the guys’ record label was bought out and they were summarily dumped. Then half the band – Joe the drummer – split.
After trying out numerous drummers, Lucas picked Brian St. Clair and the two started writing and scouting record labels.
Even with only two players, there are no holes in the Local H sound because Lucas’ guitar is rigged to play the bass lines as well.
While he was searching for a new drummer, Lucas’ mom suggested he set up his guitar to play the drums too, but that somehow didn’t work out.
Local H are now gearing up to release their fourth album, Here Comes The Zoo, on the Palm Pictures label. But don’t hold your breath; the record doesn’t hit stores until February.
