Not A Plain Jane
Included on the schedule are three multinight stands: the Bottom Line in New York (November 30-December 1 and December 14-15) and Hugh’s Room in Toronto December 18-20.
The tour will be accompanied by the release of a new album – City – a collection of songs Siberry collaborated on with other musicians. She put City together while working on another album – Siberry Anthology – set for release in March 2002.
Siberry has been taking risks and doing things her way since her self-titled 1981 debut. Although she was eventually signed with a major record label, she ultimately left the company to start her own independent label. Sheeba Records was launched in 1996, with Siberry at the helm overseeing not only her own musical career but additional projects such as book publication.
Since the conception of Sheeba, Siberry has released five albums. True to the independent spirit, Siberry is a woman in charge of her career. Her company not only handles her artistic endeavors, but serves as management, booking agency and public relations team as well.
Her material may address everyday topics like her dog or hockey, or she may venture into soundscapes incorporating cab conversations, arguments with hairdressers, yoga class sound bites, and studio outtakes with fellow artists Joe Jackson, Darol Anger, k.d. lang, and Patty Larkin.
Since the City tour represents a cross-section of her career, fans can expect a show full of the genre-defying artistry that has defined Siberry’s career.
