Green Day Beefs Up U.S. Trek
The 2001 outing still kicks off with a previously-announced gig January 11 at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas, and now includes mainly cities in the South and Midwest including New Orleans, Knoxville, Tenn.; Athens, Ga.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Milwaukee, and Kansas City.
More dates are expected to be announced soon, according to a Green Day rep.
The Berkeley punk-pop outfit is currently on a European tour through December 11 in Dublin, Ireland. They’ll play three more U.S. dates in Seattle, San Francisco and Fairfax, Va., then take a short break for the holidays before launching the full Stateside tour next year.
Billy Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool have been out on the road much of the year, including headlining this year’s Vans Warped Tour. They’ve also rolled through Japan and Australia, and interrupted one break long enough to perform a free benefit November 5 in front of San Francisco’s City Hall before jetting off to Europe.
The band is out in support of their fourth major-label release, Warning.
