ODB Takes Leg Bail
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge issued a no-bail warrant for his arrest October 17 after being notified by a Pasadena, Calif., drug-treatment center that ODB is on the run. He managed to break free from custodians transferring him from the facility to a downtown L.A. courthouse.
The rehab center is considered a lock-down facility, and is required to notify the court if an inmate leaves without escort.
The rapper – already well-acquainted with the inside of a jail cell – apparently decided he’d been in rehab long enough, court orders be damned.
Once he’s caught, it’s straight to jail: no bail, no passing go, no collecting $200.
And L.A. county courts don’t have a monopoly on wanting ODB in custody, either. He’s facing outstanding warrants in both Brooklyn and Queens, N.Y., on crack cocaine possession and harassment charges.
It’s expected the New York courts will attempt to extradite him once he is back behind bars.
The 180-day stint for drug treatment was a condition of ODB’s release after serving six months in county jail for violating probation.
He had been an inpatient – for the second time in a year – at Impact House, the facility he was sent to after his June release from Chino State Prison in California, where he was sent for evaluation.
Just last month, it was decided that ODB – real name Russell Jones – had progressed enough to be permitted 12-hour supervised releases from Impact House to do “fellowship work.”
So much for that. Now, Los Angeles law enforcement officials reportedly believe that when caught, it will mean certain prison time for the rapper.
ODB missed a major summer outing by the Wu-Tang Clan this year thanks to his growing legal troubles.
