The daughter of blues icon Johnny Copeland burst on the scene to great praise in 1998 with Turn The Heat Up. Early response to Wicked indicates that Shemekia is living up to expectations on her sophomore effort.

Currently, she’s opening for B.B. King on a club jaunt through November 12. Three days later, she kicks off a headlining tour of her own in Madison, Wis.

Copeland so far has lined up shows in Wisconsin and Michigan followed by a date at Buddy Guy’s in Chicago on November 22.

After a short break, she’ll return to the road for a weeklong swing in the Northeast, launching February 10 at the University of Maine in Orono.

She’s also firmed up her second consecutive appearance at the Bishopstock Blues Festival in Exeter, England, on May 27.
