Strait & Jackson Team Again
Besides Jackson, perennial favorite Asleep At The Wheel has been confirmed for the tour – the only act to date to appear all four years besides Strait himself. Only Tim McGraw, who has performed in the No. 2 spot the last two years, has appeared on the three previous tours.
While other acts may be rumored to have signed on for the outing, only Jackson and Asleep at the Wheel are confirmed at this time.
“There’s many, many acts being talked to right now, but the lineup’s not set and probably won’t be for a while,” a tour rep told Pollstar.
The rest of the lineup and the tour itinerary have yet to be confirmed but if past years are any indication, the trek should be one of the most-anticipated stadium tours of the year.
The spring 2000 edition of the festival tour grossed just shy of $21 million in 10 dates.
The addition of Jackson in the top guest spot should make for an interesting show. His musical pairing with Strait garnered the vocal event of the year award from the Country Music Association this year for “Murder on Music Row.”
The song, ironically, laments the sullying of traditional country music by pop crossover tunes, country radio, and industry pressures.
