The Many Lives Of Bryan Adams
So far, the veteran performer has scheduled eight gigs in Western Canada with more dates expected. Additionally, he’s announced he will appear with Elton John at two high-profile Madison Square Garden shows in New York City October 20 and 21, along with Boyzone’s Ronan Keating.
After his shows with Sir Elton, Adams heads to St. Petersburg, Russia, for an October 24 performance. He has two more Russian dates – in Moscow and Kiev – before moving on to Bucharest, Romania, and Zagreb, Croatia, where he closes out the leg October 30.
Considering there’s no new record to promote, Adams has managed to keep himself busy in 2000. He greeted the new year in the midst of a Canadian tour, which he extended into the U.S. through May.
Shortly after that tour ended, he suffered a close call, mangling his right knee in a Jamaican motorcycle accident.
During a June break, the raspy-voiced singer lost control of a motorcycle and crashed into a tree in the hills near Ocho Rios in Jamaica. The spill resulted in minor injuries, including a torn calf muscle and damage to his right knee that required some physical therapy.
Adams recovered in time for a successful tour of Europe, and made appearances in Japan and Australia this summer as well.
He’s also made a foray into the publishing world with two volumes of photographs, with sales benefitting breast cancer support organizations.
He continues to promote his books when time allows. The first, “Made In Canada,” is made up of Adam’s photographs of famous and not-so-famous Canadian women. The cover shot is of a friend who later died, taken during chemotherapy treatment. The book includes photos of Alanis Morissette, Sarah McLachlan, Pamela Anderson, Margaret Trudeau, Linda Evangelista and Margaret Atwood.
The second volume featuring English women, called “Haven,” benefits the Haven Trust. Its subjects include Elizabeth Hurley, Marianne Faithfull, Sarah Ferguson, Kate Moss and Joan Collins.
