Disco Lives At Beatstock
Disco didn’t die, it just changed its name to dance music.
Whatever you want to call it, booties will be shakin’ to it at Beatstock, an all-day dance music festival at Staten Island, N.Y’s South Beach.
More than 50 acts have been confirmed for the August 19 extravaganza, including several ‘70s disco hitmakers.
The Trammps, Shannon, Musique, Thelma Houston, and Melba Moore highlight a lineup heavy on the golden age of disco. There are some post-1979 stars on the bill as well, like C+C Music Factory and newcomer Debelah Morgan.
And in one notable exception to the beat-heavy bill, Broadway singer and ex-teen queen Deborah Gibson is also scheduled to appear.
The whole shebang is sponsored by radio station WKTU, which last sponsored Beatstock three years ago.
