Billy Bragg’s Bad Back
British troubadour Billy Bragg had to postpone a Toronto show June 29 because of a bad back.
The show, expected to be a lecture-and-song performance about Woody Guthrie, was scheduled at the Trinity United Church of Toronto. Organizers hope to reschedule the gig in the fall.
The iconoclastic singer/songwriter is touring in support of Mermaid Avenue, Volume 2, his second album of Guthrie writings put to music in collaboration with Americana outfit Wilco.
“Billy has hurt his back and won’t have recovered in time to make the flight to Canada,” Bragg politely explained on his official Web site.
“We’re sorry to bring bad tidings for patient Canadian enthusiasts.”
In the meantime, ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase.
