Pop Star Turns Prom Star
It might not be what all the girls want, but at least the boys should be happy about winning top prize Christina Aguilera in Proctor & Gamble’s “Prom of Your Life” contest.
The multiplatimun teen queen will perform at Augusta, Ga.’s Greenbrier High School prom April 28, thanks to the contest-winning efforts of student Colin Shapiro.
“It’ll be cool, but my girlfriend and her friends don’t like it all,” Greenbrier senior John Smith said. “Her being there is going to take attention away from all of them.”
Shapiro won the right to have the 19-year-old Aguilera play his prom, and received cash to rent a limo and tux.
It’s wasn’t clear whether Shapiro, a mere freshman, will be at the bash. Tradition holds that the junior class sponsors the prom for graduating seniors.
So unless he has appeal to older women — at least with junior or senior standing — he won’t be allowed to attend.
