Ian Anderson On His Own
The release of Homo Erraticus means more tales in the saga of the fictional enfant terrible known as Gerald Bostock. Fans were first introduced to the Bostock in Jethro Tull’s 1972 concept album, Thick As A Brick. Bostock’s life was revisited in Anderson’s 2012 LP, Thick As A Brick 2.
Homo Erraticus was inspired by an unpublished manuscript by amateur historian Ernest T. Parritt (1865-1928). An announcement from Anderson’s PR rep explains that Paritt takes a look at “key event of British history with a string of prophecies stretching to the current day and the future.” Thanks to the delirium of malaria, we’ll get to meet characters including “a nomadic Neolithic settler, an Iron Age blacksmith, a Christian monk, a turnpike innkeeper and even Prince Albert.”
Anderson will be joined on the road by his band, made up of guitarist Florian Opahle, bassist David Goodier, keyboadist John O’Hara, drummer Scott Hammond and singer Ryan O’Donnell.
