Desire Some New Camera Obscura Dates?
The act is continuing to support its fifth album, Desire Lines. The LP was recorded in Portland with Grammy-nominated producer Tucker Martine, who’s worked with R.E.M., Spoon and My Morning Jacket. Speaking of MMJ, Jim James, as well as Neko Case, contributed vocals to Desire Lines.
AllMusic calls the album “another installment of brilliant pop from the group, with vocalist Tracyanne Campbell’s now trademark mixture of heartbreaking and sharply astute lyrical turns guiding the songs through either romantic longing, dour tragedy, or touches of the band’s more and more familiar dry sense of humor.”
The review adds that Desire Lines features some of Camera Obscura’s “best and most confident work to date.”
Camera Obscura is celebrating Record Store Day by releasing a four-track 7-inch April 19 with live audio from the 4AD Session the band recorded last summer in Glasgow.
