Lieberberg LEA’s Best Promoter

Marek Lieberberg is still the best promoter in Germany, according to the country’s Live Entertainment Awards.

He received his gong in Frankfurt March 11, on a night that was otherwise dominated by independent live music companies.

He didn’t win the best festival prize, which prompted him to storm out of the 2007 awards ceremony, but it seems his issues with Germany’s primary live music bash have been resolved.

“You all know my former comments to the LEA,” he told a packed Frankfurt Festhalle, before revealing that he’d canceled going to the UK’s Brit Awards, the MTV Awards, ILMC and the Pollstar Awards to be present on the night. “However I have come to the LEA. I’m here and I like it,” he said.

This year the festival award that caused so much controversy seven years ago went to Olé Party Sommer in Oberhausen, which is much smaller event than Rock Im Park and Rock Am Ring.

The other prizewinners included Die Toten Hosen (best arena tour), Status Quo / Uriah Heep (best concert hall tour), while the “best club” award went to Café Hahn in Koblenz.
