Stage Collapse

A section of the portable stage collapsed and fell over during load-out and after fans were cleared from the 20,000-capacity arena at Ohio State University.
“The incident occurred just after midnight with no concert-goers remaining in the facility,” Schottenstein Center GM Michael Gatto said. “Three Ohio State employees and one member of the performer’s staff experienced minor injuries and were treated and released. We are in the process of conducting an investigation. This was an isolated occurrence and all upcoming events, including Saturday’s ‘Winter Jam’ concert, can proceed as scheduled.”
The accident occurred as a forklift pulled away from a section of the stage as four workers were disassembling it, according to the Columbus Dispatch. First responders were called immediately and police reportedly remained at the scene for 35 minutes.
The Jan. 17 show at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky., was postponed and rescheduled for Feb. 21.
“The tour’s team will make the necessary repairs to the production elements so the tour may continue,” according to a statement from Live Nation, which is promoting the shows. No further postponements are expected.
Tickets for the Lexington show will be honored at the rescheduled concert.
