Rockapalooza Promoter Pleads Guilty

The promoter of the annual rock Rockapalooza festival in Michigan, facing felony charges for writing bad checks to vendors at this summer’s event, pleaded guilty to two of three charges Dec. 20.

Kings of Rock Entertainment’s Tim Corser admitted to writing two checks for $500 or more without enough money to cover them and intent to defraud.

The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office dropped a third bad check charge but Corser agreed to repay about $20,000 owed toward all three, according to the Jackson Citizen Patriot. Corser is scheduled for sentencing Feb. 13.

The checks were written to vendors servicing the June 21-23 festival at the Jackson County Fairgrounds.

The promoter previously said he got into the cash squeeze when festival sponsor Michigan National Guard didn’t come through with its payment.

Corser was quoted by the paper saying that after six years at the fairgrounds, he’ll be looking for a new Rockapalooza location.
